The 2022 Makin' Hay is back to its traditional springtime date.
Join us on Saturday, April 23rd for either the
10K or the 5k!
NOTE: If you wish to "step down" from the 10K to the 5K , please do so pre-race via your RunSignup profile. On-site race day step-downs are strongly discouraged and may or may not be accommodated.
Note-The registration deadline for receiving an event shirt is 4/1/2022. Persons registering after this date will NOT be guaranteed to receive an event shirt. We did order a limited-number of extra shirts that will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis at bib assignment.

This scenic and rolling 10K course will take you on a journey through the heart of Frederick County's dairy production region. The fall leaves should be beginning to show some fall color as you run or walk past numerous farms, along Catoctin Creek on a gravel road, and across two, one-lane, wooden deck bridges.
The 5k is an out and back that is run on all blacktop roads that also offer expansive vistas. You'll transit one of the one-lane, wooden deck bridges twice on this shorter iteration that has half of the distance (and hills!) of the 10K.
The start/finish and parking are located at Frederick County's Catoctin Creek Nature Center, Middletown, Md.

Nearby Lodging suggestions: Stone Manor Country Club (located on the course!) and a wonderful Airb&b in historic Burkittsville. Other nearby lodging options.
With an apparent return to more normal racing at this time, most pandemic mitigation procedures have been rendered moot. However, we will meet or exceed any protocols required/recommended by local, state, and the CDC to ensure the safety of our participants, volunteers, and spectators.
We will highly encourage volunteers and participants to wear a mask if they feel the need to protect themselves and urge everyone to avoid the event if they're feeling ill in any way out of an abundance of caution. GETTING THERECatoctin Creek Nature Center is almost equidistant from Middletown, Jefferson and Burkittsville
